Caucasian Chamber Orchestra in the European Parliament

On Tuesday, 26 October 2010, MEP Milan Cabrnoch, Chairman of the Delegation to the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia PCCs, organised a concert by the Caucasian Chamber Orchestra in the European Parliament in Brussels. The event was held in collaboration with, among others, the European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA), the European Conservatives and Reformists Group (ECR), the Mission of the Republic of Armenia to the EU, the Mission of Georgia to the EU and the EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC).

EuFoA welcomed this cultural event in the European Parliament, which demonstrated the power of music as a unifying force between the countries of Caucasian region, despite the recent tensions between those countries.

The Caucasian Chamber Orchestra is led by the German conductor, composer and pianist, Uwe Berkemer. The Orchestra was founded in summer 2005 with the support of the German KFW, the Bank of Georgia (BOG) and Georgia’s First Lady, Sandra Roelofs-Saakashvili.

The event was attended by many guests amongst whom were the supporters of the concert MEP Evgeni Kirilov, MEP Vytautas Landsbergis, MEP Jirí Mastalka and MEP Zoran  Thaler. After the concert the invitees had the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail organized at the Yehudi Menuhin Hall of the European Parliament.
