EU-Armenia Cooperation Council meets in Luxembourg
The EU-Armenia Cooperation Council held its tenth meeting in Luxembourg the 26 October, marking the ongoing high-level political dialogue between the EU and Armenia. The meeting was chaired by Armenian Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian, and was attended on the European side by Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt, EU Commissioner for External Relations, Benita Fererro-Waldner, Spanish State Secretary for European Affairs, Diego Lopez Garcia, and EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Peter Semneby.
The Cooperation Council welcomed the signature of the normalisation protocols between Armenia and Turkey, and the EU reaffirmed its commitment to providing political and technical support throughout the process. During the meeting the partners also discussed the implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy Action Plan and prospects for the negotiation of a new Association Agreement in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
