COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, BRUSSELS
European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) is an NGO promoting an enhanced cooperation between Europe and Armenia. We are now seeking to reinforce our team with a Communications Manager.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Drafting EuFoA's public communications (press releases, articles, short papers) and internal reporting
- Managing EuFoA's online presence (website, YouTube, social media - Facebook and Twitter) - by publishing information to EuFoA's website, updating Twitter and Facebook channels
- Contributing to identifying new and creative ways to enhance EuFoA's visibility and outreach, as well as proactively mapping out opportunities for communication and media engagement
- Liaising and managing contacts with European and Armenian media (interacting with journalists, meeting media representatives, establishing contacts with media channels) and contributes to their news whenever EuFoA has relevant information to report
- Representing the organisation at conferences, round-tables and other public events
- Taking video footage as well as photos during EuFoA's public events and conducting interviews with our stakeholders
- Supporting EuFoA's events with a view to issue actionable recommendations to improve event management, outreach and advocacy
You will be required to have the following skills and competences:
- Background and/or education in journalism, communications, public relations or other relevant fields
- Proven capacity of writing stories and also filming/ editing audio-visual pieces as well as interviews
- Ability to produce a wide range of communication supports and experience in the usage of media technology, social media for public information/advocacy
- Familiarity with programmes such as Final Cut (Pro) or any other Adobe Creative Suite programmes, including Adobe Audition and ability to operate a DSLR photo/video camera
- Copyediting expertise are desired as well as proofreading skills
- Proven oral and written communication skills in different languages:
- Native or near-native fluency in English
- Fluency in at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish, German, Italian
- Knowledge of other EU languages, Armenian or Russian will be considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team-building
- Good understanding of the EU institutional and political frameworks and their interaction
- Prior experience in EU Institutions and/or EU political bodies is an advantage but not a requirement
- High motivation, and reliability, with excellent organisational skills
- Applicants from countries requiring work permits (Armenia, Russia, Croatia etc) have equal opportunities if they already hold a valid work permit for Belgium

Unpaid student internship opportunity
From time to time, we are in a position to offer a student internship to those who are interested in our activities and would like to be trained in all aspects of NGO work.
Bear in mind that:
- the internship has to last 8 weeks minimum
- you have to be a student to apply
- you have to have your own funding through your university, an EU programme or some other grant
- you have to possess a valid work permit for Belgium or be enrolled in a Belgian university (which means that if, for example, you are a Russian/Armenian student in Paris, unfortunately you cannot apply)
