Round-table with the Armenian Ombudsman Mr Karen Andreasyan
On 18 October 2011, European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) held a roundtable at EuFoA's Brussels office with Mr Karen Andreasyan, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia. The briefing focused on the state of Human Rights and Democracy in Armenia in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw strengthens reforms in EU’s Eastern neighbourhood
On 29-30 September 2011, the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries met in Warsaw at the invitation of the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy and the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk. The Summit provided an opportunity to renew the political commitment of participating countries to the key objectives of the Eastern Partnership. New EUSR for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia visits Armenia
On 7 September 2011, Philippe Lefort - the new European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia - was in Armenia as part of his first visit to the region. Inaugural Meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly took place in Brussels
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest) has been formally constituted on 3 May 2011 in Brussels. After intensive discussions on the modalities of participation of Belarus and on the Rules of Procedure, the Assembly held its inaugural meeting and should be ready to start working as of Autumn 2011.
