  • Armenia hosts Junior Eurovision 2011 song contest

    On 3 December 2011 Armenia hosted the Junior Eurovision 2011 song contest at the Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex in Yerevan. Participants from thirteen European countries took part in the contest.

  • Philippe Lefort discusses Karabakh conflict with Armenian officials

    EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort visited Armenia on 28 November 2011. The focus of his trip was discussion of the current stage of the Karabakh conflict settlement, as well as Catherine Ashton's recent visit to the region.

  • Round-table with the Armenian Ombudsman Mr Karen Andreasyan

    On 18 October 2011, European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) held a roundtable at EuFoA's Brussels office with Mr Karen Andreasyan, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia. The briefing focused on the state of Human Rights and Democracy in Armenia in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections. Representatives from the European institutions, international organisations and NGOs were present at the event.

  • Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw strengthens reforms in EU’s Eastern neighbourhood

    On 29-30 September 2011, the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries met in Warsaw at the invitation of the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy and the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk. The Summit provided an opportunity to renew the political commitment of participating countries to the key objectives of the Eastern Partnership. It particularly underlined the central role of civil society in pursuing the goals of the Partnership.

  • New EUSR for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia visits Armenia

    On 7 September 2011, Philippe Lefort - the new European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia - was in Armenia as part of his first visit to the region. During his stay in Yerevan Lefort met with Armenian officials, including the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, the Secretary of the National Security Council and the Speaker of Parliament.

  • FPC-EPC joint event "Spotlight on Armenia"

    On Thursday, 23 June 2011, EuFoA's Senior Counsellor Paruyr Hovhannisyan contributed in quality of a speaker to the Foreign Policy Centre (FPC) event ‘'Spotlight on Armenia'' taken place in Brussels. The conference, organised in partnership with the European Policy Centre (EPC), aimed both at outlining the main problems the country is being faced with and at highlighting policy recommendations for the resolution of its major challenges.

  • Armenia’s Country Report: Implementation of the ENP in 2010

    On 25 May 2011, the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy published the ‘Country Report' for Armenia, about progress in the Implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy for the year 2010. The document reports on Armenia's performance in the different key sectors which are highlighted in the ENP Action Plan.

  • Inaugural Meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly took place in Brussels

    The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest) has been formally constituted on 3 May 2011 in Brussels. After intensive discussions on the modalities of participation of Belarus and on the Rules of Procedure, the Assembly held its inaugural meeting and should be ready to start working as of Autumn 2011. Euronest is now considered as the forum for parliamentary debate for all questions relating to the Eastern Partnership.
