  • New poll in Nagorno-Karabakh shows highest support for independence

    BRUSSELS, 17/11/2016 - New figures confirm that security is the main concern for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and that combined support for independence or unification with Armenia grows from 91.7% in 2015 to 95.1% in 2016.

  • European values and the Syrian exodus: EU, Armenia and the neighbours’ response

    European Friends of Armenia published a paper which analyses the response of the European Union, Armenia and countries in the Middle East to the Syrian refugee crisis. The study shows that by basing its approach on solidarity Armenia has demonstrated it truly does embody European values.

  • “Neutrality as an effective myth: An analysis of Thomas de Waal’s explicit and implicit positions on the Karabakh Conflict”

    An English summary of a paper published in German, written by an independent scholar and PhD candidate Christian Kolter, who has spent one year in Stepanakert (Nagorno-Karabakh) thanks to the EuFoA-funded Karabakh Research Fellowship. In this paper he analyses Thomas de Waal's book "Black Garden: Armenia and Azerbaijan Through Peace and War".

  • EU-Armenia relations: future developments and prospects

    EuFoA's latest paper on EU-Armenia relations with a special focus on future developments. A draft version of the document has been discussed during an EuFoA-supported Centre of European Studies event "The Future of EU-Armenia relations: what's next?" on 12 February. EuFoA's Director Eduardo Lorenzo Ochoa was one of the keynote speakers alongside MEP Frank Engel (Member of the Europe-Armenia Advisory Council) and Gunnar Wiegand (Director for Russia, Eastern Neighbourhood, Central Asia and OSCE, EEAS).

  • Poll: Armenia on the Eve of Presidential Elections

    The results of the TNS opinion survey "Poll: Armenia on the Eve of Presidential Elections" describing the voting preferences and motivations of the Armenian voters, but also their views on the on-going campaigns of the various candidates. For this TNS opinion poll, implemented together with their local partner IPSC, 1 609 face-to-face interviews were conducted in all 10 regions (marzes) and 12 communities of Yerevan between 31 January and 5 February 2013, using the highest possible standards and extensive quality control measures, as outlined below. The poll was commissioned by European Friends of Armenia in order to contribute to a factual debate ahead of the elections.

  • Poll: A Snapshot ahead of Armenia’s Presidential Elections

    A TNS opinion survey which describes the moods, voting preferences and motivations of the Armenian voters just before the beginning of the official electoral campaign period. For this TNS opinion poll, implemented together with their local partner IPSC, 1,607 face-to-face interviews were conducted in all 10 regions (marzes) and 12 communities of Yerevan between 15 and 20 January 2013, using the highest possible standards and extensive quality control measures, as outlined below. The poll was commissioned by European Friends of Armenia in order to contribute to a factual debate ahead of the elections.

  • Interim conclusion of the Electoral Observation Mission of the Nagorno-Karabakh Presidential Elections

    On 19 July 2012, Presidential Elections took place Nagorno-Karabakh (NK). While the NK Republic is internationally not recognised, European Friends of Armenia strongly welcomes the wish of the de-facto authorities to organise local self-government based on democratic principles. This wish has been underlined by inviting a large number of international observers, including a group of eight set up by ourselves.

  • Poll: Last Assessment of Pre-Electoral Armenia

    The results of the poll titled Last Assessment of Pre-Electoral Armenia. This TNS opinion supervised poll with an error margin of ±2,4% was subject to extensive quality controls and conducted by IPSC and EuFoA. The fieldwork with 1600 face-to-face interviews in all regions (marzes) of Armenia took place between 17 and 22 April 2012.

    The results of EuFoA poll titled "Poll: A Snapshot of Pre-Electoral Armenia". The poll was conducted by Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting (IPSC) and EuFoA, with international polling company TNS opinion providing extensive quality control and supervision. The fieldwork was conducted between 29 February and 5 March 2012.

  • Free trade with Europe: boosting competitiveness and growth

    The shortpaper sheds light on the specific nature of the Armenian economy, trade relations with the EU and which impact the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) can have. It states that the EU seeks a long-term economic partnership to promote trade, investments, market liberalisation and growth, intellectual property rights and European market standards, while reaffirming that such a long-term development can only be successful if it is embedded in a stable system based on democracy and the rule of law.

    From 7 April 2009 to 10 January 2011, European Friends of Armenia posed the following question on its website: In your opinion, which factors are most important for the integration of Armenia into Europe?

    The intention of this long-term online poll was to find out what visitors to our website think about this very broad subject. Given the long time span as well as the specific profile of visitors frequenting our website, we are aware that the poll is not representative. Rather, it gives an insight into the factors people already interested in this field consider most important for Armenian integration into Europe.
