Political information:
- The first Constitution was adopted on July 5, 1995. The current Constitution was adopted on November 27, 2005.
- Armenia is a presidential representative democratic republic. The President of the Republic of Armenia is elected for a term of five years in general elections. The current president Serzh Sargsyan was elected in February 2013 (http://www.president.am/en/).
- Prime Minister (Tigran Sargsyan, not related to Serzh Sargsyan) is the head of the government (http://www.gov.am/en/).
- The National Assembly (Azgayin Zhoghov) represents the legislative branch. It is composed of 131 parliamentarians who are elected in a general election for a term of 5 years. The current Assembly was elected in May 2012 (http://www.parliament.am/?lang=eng).
- Currently the National Assembly of Armenia is composed as follows: Republican Party (69 mandates), Prosperous Armenia (37), Armenian National Congress (7), Rule of Law (6), Armenian Revolutionary Federation (5), Heritage (5), Non-partisans (2).
