On 1 and 2 December 2010, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held its first summit in eleven years in the Kazakh capital, Astana. The US House Foreign Affairs Committee approved yesterday, 4 March, a resolution recognising the Armenian genocide and urging the Administration to do the same amid growing criticism by the Turkish government. The resolution represents an important step forward for the prevention of future crimes against humanity and more generally for the promotion of human rights.
